For twelve years, the agency for product and communication design has been working in a three-storey former workshop building. After initially using only one floor, the entire building is now in use. The clients would like a concept with proposals for work organisation and distribution of use in order to achieve a spatial improvement.
The process of finding a concept and form in dialogue with the clients was strongly influenced by the following terms: Atmosphere, One House - One Company, Mystery, Communication, Representation, Colour, Comfort. These key words describe the desired external effect of the agency and lead to the following architectural interpretation:
The space is divided into two areas with different qualities. The agency's products are displayed in a mysterious cabinet with dark shelves, similar to wall panelling. This type of exhibition resembles a library and thus encourages direct engagement with the works - they can be taken from the shelves and viewed on standing desks.
The large table grows out of the shelves into the restrained and bright meeting room. The steel body above the table serves for lighting as well as projection by means of the built-in beamer. The technology (power, network and TV) and a blackboard on which sketches and notes can be made are integrated into the green back wall of the shelves.
